Energy Saving Lighting

Light fitting

Lighting is one of the largest factors of a company’s electricity consumption, often lights are on when area is unattended or through necessity are on for long hours.

Poorly maintained lights also cost, a fluorescent light with the lamp not working is still using electricity.

Here are some ways we can help your company

  • Changing light fittings for new energy efficient types. Savings on power consumption of up to 70% is possible.
  • The ECA (Enhanced Capital Allowance ) Scheme applies for this sort of project. A company can claim back 100% of their capital expenditure for materials and labour in their first year.
  • Re-lamp existing fluorescent or low bay lighting with new energy saving conversion lamps.
  • Typical warehouse lighting is low or high bay lighting with SON,MBFU or metal halide lamps. The light output from these lamps can be only 28% of their original output after 15000 hours lamplife. Lamps are changed when their output drops. New replacement lamps are cheaper to run and light output is only down to 80% for the same period, this offers two savings.
  • Fit motion detectors or timer switches to lighting in areas which are attended irregularly but are normally on permanently, ie warehouses, canteens and toilets. Staff can be instructed to turn lights off when leaving areas but few do. The sensor will bring lights on when staff enter an area and turn lights of automatically after a pre-set time.
  • We dispose of any old lighting and lamps properly under the WEEE Directive.
